Sweden alone has a deficit of approximately 70,000 skilled digital workers. Covid-linked border closures have made it nearly impossible for Australian companies to bring in skilled IT workers, and there are only 7,000 software graduates to fill an estimated 60,000 positions. Australia’s demand for skilled IT workers is growing four times faster than broader labor force numbers. By 2025, Australia needs 156,000 new developers to keep pace with the rapid transformation of businesses and economic growth.
